Text Box: Rain Barrel Distribution To Resume in April

GBG will be partnering once again with the Town of Berlin to build and sell rain barrels at a discounted rate of $25 to residents. The program was so successful last year that there is a waiting list of people who will get first shot at the new barrels, but there should be plenty to go around.

Distribution to those on the waiting list is tentatively slated to begin in April. If you want to reserve a barrel, please contact Berlin’s Planning and Zoning office at 410-641-1483.

If you want to help build the barrels and become eligible for a further discount, contact Steve Farr at 410-629-1538 or email him at

Text Box: Berlin Parks Cleanup and Rain Garden Event Set for April 24th

GBG and the Berlin Parks Commission are encouraging everyone to volunteer for the first annual "Take Pride in Berlin Spring Clean Up Day" scheduled for 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 24th.

The event will feature many opportunities to help spruce up the grounds and facilities of Stephen Decatur and Henry Parks, including picking up litter, replacing invasive plants with native species, and cleaning or painting recreational equipment. The event will also include a demonstration rain garden to address flooding in Stephen Decatur Park, educate citizens about the benefits of rain gardens and inspire them to build their own.

At noon, the event will transition from maintenance to sustenance as cleanup participants will be treated to a free picnic lunch to celebrate the day’s accomplishments. Anyone interested in volunteering for the event should contact Steve Farr at 410-629-1538 or growberlingreen@hotmail.com
